About Me
I’ve been proud to call Newport home for the past 33 years. Like so many others, I fell in love with Newport the very first time I visited. There was something truly special about this community. I was fortunate enough to make it my home. I built a rewarding career in the marine industry, met my husband of 25 years, purchased our home when homeownership was still within reach, and raised our family. Our daughter, Grace, has attended Newport Public Schools since kindergarten and is a senior at Rogers High School.
I am one of only two candidates in this year’s School Committee race who has previously served on the Newport School Committee. During my term from 2022 to 2024, I served as Vice Chair for my second year and co-chaired the Health and Wellness Committee for two years. I was also one of the 2 parent members on the Building Committee overseeing the Pell addition and new Rogers build. These roles gave me valuable experience and insight into the challenges facing our schools while always keeping students at the center of every decision.
As both a parent and a former School Committee member, I have gained firsthand insight into the opportunities and challenges facing our students, families, teachers, and staff. From language barriers and bullying to budget constraints and funding shortfalls, I understand how every decision made by the School Committee directly impacts the quality of education our students receive.
I am an eternal optimist, and I firmly believe Newport Public Schools have the opportunity to build an even stronger future. One of the first tasks of the new committee will be to hire a permanent superintendent who can provide stable, long-term leadership. We also need a stronger partnership with the City Council to ensure our schools receive the consistent, predictable funding that our students, educators, and community deserve.
The work ahead will not be easy, but I am ready for the challenge. I bring proven experience, thoughtful leadership, and an unwavering commitment to serving Newport's students and families. Together, we can strengthen our schools and ensure every child has the opportunity to succeed.
When not working or being a mom I can be found on the tennis courts around town and at the International Tennis Hall of Fame doing my favorite clinic, cardio tennis
